TDL Fall 2016 Semi-Weekly Power Rankings

3RD DIVISION (WEEKNIGHTS)

SKL		 2-0 With the overall competition level sliding down just a bit, Skillshare has completely dominated the field so far. Their roster from last season is intact, and their chemistry as a team continues to improve. (G) Elliot Curtis and (F) Scott Sullivan are a monster of a duo right now.
2 (N/A) 30F 2-1 They played Skillshare closer than anyone so far, and they’ve won their last two. 30-for-30 is led by (F) Adam Wang, playing a point forward role for the team while shooting very well from 3, and of course, big man (C) Ezekial Kim, who’s been a monster on the offensive glass.
3 (N/A) RIS 0-1 Just Rise (of the Spaghetti Ramen franchise) may take some losses this season as (F) Mark Hahn sits out for shoulder surgery. MVP (G) Leuis Ng will also be resting his back. But never forget that there has not yet been a D3  season in which Ng didn’t win the championship.
4 (N/A) LEG 1-1 This is essentially the same roster as last season, LEGO has some viable scoring options and solid defense as well with (C) Danius Giedraitis holding down the paint. If they can get hot from the 3-pt line this season, they can make a move toward contention.
5 (N/A) UBC 1-1 They’re 1-1 with both games decided on by 4 pts or less. Uncle Bought a Cow is a defensive-minded team with one of the D3’s best PGs in (G) David Weiss. This is a relatively new team, but with veteran (F) Louis Konig also guiding the way, they can move up quickly. 
6 (N/A) NYK 0-1 The NYCAC Kings are a veteran team with a commitment to defense that should improve, particularly as rookie (G) Kavia Zhao gets into more of a comfort zone with the team and competition. He is a young, quick guard that can make a lot happen for the Kings.
7 (N/A) DYN 0-2 Not a good start for a completely revamped NY Dynasty roster, but they’re a botched 2:00 min drill away from being 1-1. (G) Steve Shin and (F) Chris Seerveld provide the scoring as (G) Ren Hsieh takes a backseat this season, but they gotta cut down TOs, starting with Hsieh.

MWW		 2-0 Metta World War somehow didn’t win the championship last season, so they’re back with a vengeance. In Week 2, they tried out a couple of new pieces (G) Dominique Jones and (F) Claude Blue. If they stay on the roster, this team may not lose a game this season.
2 (N/A) SIX 1-0 Lest you forget that Team Six are the defending champions, and they did it with key players missing in the title game. (G) James Hudson is gone, but rumor has it that perennial All-TDL First Teamer (G) Zack Simmons will be returning to take his place.
3 (N/A) DYN 1-0 The NY Dynasty were one win away from their 4th franchise title last season, but if everyone else is upgrading, they should too. 6-7 (C) Reid Wittman is back, with new add (F) Arjun Ohri. If (G) Daniel Guest stays on the roster, they could be on their way back to the title game.
4 (N/A) GMM 1-1 Guard Me Maybe always thrown together a lot of talent on the roster, the trick has always been getting the team to mesh in time for the post season. When it does, they can get to the chip. (G) Landon Glover will lead the way, but they could use another shooter. 
5 (N/A) FC2 0-2 FC 21 Peace & Love has had the unfortunate luck of being scheduled against two of Premier’s top teams to start the season. They haven’t looked bad, but defense has been an issue. They’ve given up 75 ppg in their first two losses. Something must change on that end of the floor. 
6 (N/A) WHG 0-1 Still too early to tell with We Had Game, they have some solid pieces on the board already, but we have yet to see their full roster. Rookie (F) Jason Graffam is a fluid scorer and (G) Michael Springer can create his own shot as well as anyone in Premier. That’s a good start.
7 (N/A) BOO 0-1 Boomtown has a revamped roster with some solid new pieces that fit in well to their defensive-minded, workhorse style of play. The question is whether or not they have enough firepower. As it stands now, (F) Nate Jones will have to post some big nights for BOO to thrive.

Statistics: 29.8 ppg, 44% FGs, 6 3pg, 4.4 rpg, 4 apg, 1.6 spg

Season Notes: There was no question who the best team was this season and who their best player was. Chu came into his own this summer, not just putting up ridiculous numbers, but leading a veteran team. When the Panthers needed him most, he always came up big, lifting SXP to a 2nd straight title in his best game from an all-time season.

Wat Misaka Defensive Most Outstanding Player

JIN BAE KIM (TAP NY)

Statistics: 9.8 rpg, 2.6 spg, 1 bpg, 1.2 fpg 

Season Notes: It often felt like Kim was everywhere at once on the court. His length and athleticism are rare in D2, and he used it to change games defensively, whether one-on-one or prowling the passing lanes. And his biggest asset was turning defense into easy baskets the other way.

Season Notes: After a modest spring season, Ryhija let it all hang out this season, leading Teal Curtain in rebounds and blocks. He was one of D2’s top help defenders and played as physical in the paint as anyone in the league all season.

Season Notes: Few players were as exciting to watch this summer as Tsao, perhaps the new title holder as fastest end-to-end player in 2nd Division. But it wasn’t just layups, when Tsao had the jumper going, he was flat out impossible to guard.
