TDL Summer 2016 Week 7 Power Rankings (D3)

DOR
5-1 With a revamped roster, Doris From Rego Park has looked very solid despite a loss to SPR, and despite (F) Kyle Wilson missing a number of games this season. (G) David Weiss is playing MVP ball. The ice up here is looking very thin right now, though.
(=) DYN 4-1 They gave up a 20-pt lead twice to TOF, or NY Dynasty would be 5-0 with a #1 ranking. But such is a team without (G) Ren Hsieh in the line-up. He’s been their pace-setter all season, and this week they’ll get to play DOR for the rights to the top spot.
(+1) SPR 4-1 After an early loss in Week 2, Spaghetti Ramen has quietly snuck back into the race for the top seed. (G) Leuis Ng is back to his usual MVP #s and (F) Mark Hahn is looking as healthy and as much a terror on the defensive end as ever. They’re the defending champs for a reason.
(+1) TOF 3-3 Stinky Tofu has climbed back into relevance after losing 3 of their first 4. (F) Carson Yiu has been solid as ever, another MVP candidate to be sure. (C) Jason Chan still anchors the D, but it’s (G) Paul Savino that’s made the difference. When he plays well, particularly on D, TOF thrives.
(+1) SKL 3-3 Skillshare has clinched a playoff spot so they can breathe easy now. It’s been a choppy regular season with guys in and out of the lineup, but this is a team built for the playoffs. Big front-line with smart, dynamic guards in the backcourt. SKL will be a dark horse contender.
(-3) FRE 3-3 Rookie (G) Steven Wong has been the Freemasons best and most consistent player all season. It’s when they can get contributions from the role player that they can make some noise, this is a tough defense. Luckily, they’re locked for playoffs, beating the teams they needed to.
(=) DEM 2-3 After losing their first two, Dem Boyz has won 2 of their last 3 to get back into the playoff race. They need a win over LEG this week to lock up their playoff spot. (G) Gabe Melendez has been a great addition to the team, giving DEM more perimeter offense and defensive energy.
(=) MYP 2-3 Since MYPC lost the tie-breaker to LEG, they can’t afford to finish with just two wins. They’ll have to beat FRE, or tougher yet, SPR in the next two weeks. (G) Steve Shin has carried this team but when they get good games from (F) Jim Yang, that’s when MYP can make a move.
(=) LEG 2-4 Just one more win will do it. If Lego can beat DEM, they’ll secure a spot in the playoffs. They have solid pieces to get it done, but they need all hands on deck. (C) Danius Giedraitis has been a solid defensive presence, and LEG has a deep, skilled backcourt. One more win.
10 (=) FAT 0-6 Unfortunately, the Fatties are out of playoff contention, but they’ve had some solid moments. (G) Alex Yu and (F) James An have been two of the league’s more entertaining players to watch.

TDL Summer 2016 Week 6 Power Rankings (D1)

Rank Team Record Comments
(+1) NFZ 3-1 Yung No Fly Zone got a huge statement win two weeks ago by pulling out a clutch win over SKW. But now they go into a bit of an unclear stretch with (F) Michael Reding out, and (G) Derik Kumagai out for two weeks as well. They may not stay no. 1 but with everyone returning for playoffs, rest assured this is a title contender yet again.
(n/a) PRB 3-0 A late entry this season, Pretty Boys have started well. This is a big and athletic team, but just who will be staying on the roster–and who gets dropped–is still in question. (G) David Chu, (G) John McConnell, (F) Declan O’Donnell and (C) Ernest Christian is already a strong core, and some of these new faces make them look like role players.
(-2) franchise_logo_SK_War_DogSKW 3-2 Even with a revamped roster with no (G) Kash Miah or (F) Sean Zhang, SK War Dog was looking as invincible as ever until these last couple of weeks. But then again, they’ve missed key players through these games as well, so we wouldn’t count them out just yet.
(=) SPB
2-2 The Space Badgers have all the personnel to make a deep playoff run, it’s just a lot of new faces playing together so this regular season is about building chemistry. If they can start clicking, the combo of (G) Alex Tsay and (F) Sam Deadwyler is a defensive nightmare on the perimeter.
(=) RAR 2-3 They’ve beat the teams they feel like they’re supposed to beat, and now every game is building towards the goal of unseating an upper tier team. (G) Joseph Jaffee is solid as ever, (G) Miguel Melbourne as well. With (C) Zheng Zeng on now, they might have something here.
(+1) ISS 1-3 With their ever-changing roster, it’s hard to say where the ISS Flightz will be. Luckily, every team makes the playoffs this season so this veteran team just has to get hot.  Hard to say if they have the right personnel but (F) Jason Wu and (F) Wei Fan Zheng have been solid.
(-1) SHA 1-4 Same goes for Shawty Likes the Way, it’s been a disappointing season so far, but they’ve turned seasons around on the fly before. (G) Sam Lu and (G) Deric Kung give them volatile weapons from the perimeter, but this team depends on (C) Jack Latta anchoring the team.

SXP
5-0 No surprises here, as long as they’re healthy, the Sex Panthers have the depth to run the table this season. No player on the roster has made it to every game, but they’ve found a way to win anyway. (G) David Chu & (F) Chris Di are both in MVP form right now, and (G) Greg Loeffert would be a star guard of any other team in the league.
(+2) TAP 4-1 Well what do you know, after a couple of bad seasons, TAP NY is back among the big dogs. They have (G) Will Chu and (G) John Hsu in peak form and (F) Jin Bae Kim has been just the piece they’ve needed with his great athleticism and energy on defense.
(+3) RAP
3-2 Raptors addition (F/C) Mike Adames hasn’t exactly dominated by the numbers, but his impact has been immediate for a team that needed a presence in the paint on defense and someone to finish plays. With RAP’s signature grit, consider this team a dark horse for the playoffs.
(-1) TEA 3-2 They’ve given up a couple of winnable games, always playing with what seems like a short roster, but Teal Curtain‘s performance against the rest of the Top 4 teams is worth of championship consideration. They have size and hustle up and down the roster, a prototype playoff team.
(-3) NFZ 3-2 No Fly Zone OG had been treading water with a very thin roster, and it all finally sank the past two weeks with two straight losses. If they can get everyone there, this is a contender, but until they prove they can do so consistently, middle of the pack is the best they can expect.
(-1) FOB 2-3 It’s been another mediocre season for Gritty FOB City, but they have the weapons and veteran savvy to make a run, now that they’ve secured a playoff spot. It’s just a matter of who they meet in the 1st rd at this point. Staying here at the 6th seed might be perfect.
(=) LAR 0-5 Admittedly, we thought Larry’s Kids would have gotten a win by now. They’ll have a chance this week, and when they face the also win-less GOA in the season finale.  A little bit more low-post scoring would go a long way for this team.
(=) GOA 0-5 Goat Herders still getting a ton of points from the front-court, enough that they really should be closer in games, but for whatever reason, the once champs from long ago, have not found the magic this season.

MWW
5-0 This should be no surprise. Other than a closely-contested game with SAL, Metta World War has been freight train, plowing through the comp on their way to a 3rd title defense. And to make matters worse, rookie (F) Nick Annacone got his shot going to the tune of 26 points on 7 3FGs in Week 4. (G) Steven Counts also made an appearance in Wk 5.
(=) SAL 3-1 Sal Team 6 looks like they’re on cruise control as well, they might not get another test until they see MWW again in the playoffs. This is a very deep roster with added quickness and athleticism  in (G) Scott Weisfeld and (G) James Hudson. No team other than MWW stands out as a worthy opponent right now.
(+1) TIM
4-1 What a difference  a season makes for Tim Nubina. With (G) Morgan Blakely and (G) Gus Gauntlett at the helm, shooters (G) Stefan Perunicic and (G) Duke Stanojevic have been lights out. They still have lapses on the defensive end, but with their size and physicality in the paint, this team will be a tough out in the post-season grind.
(-1) SPA 3-1 The NYK Spartans finally faced a Top 3 opponent in Week 5 and they put up a good fight. (F) Young Song has been solid all season and SPA’s 3-pt shooting has held up so far–it was a huge weakness last season. The rest of SPA’s schedule is all Top 5 teams now, so the home stretch will be the true test of how much they have improved.
(=) DYN 2-3 At this point, the NY Dynasty are scrambling to just make the playoffs where they hope to get hot. The roster has been thin and inconsistent, but a bright spot is new add (G) Landon Glover‘s break out game in Week 5, his league-best 30 pts helped secure DYN an OT win. Just as important, they need (G) Garrett James to break his shooting slump.
(=) BKA 1-3 BK All Day needs to pick up a couple of quality wins to secure a playoff spot, especially the season finale vs. ASN. If they can do that, this deep veteran roster with a solid interior presence can make some noise in the playoffs. Especially if they can get former MVP (G) Anthony Fonseca going again after a layoff due to injury.
(=) ASN 0-4 Struggling with the same roster issues as DYN, Asphalt Ninjas 2.0 just hasn’t had an consistency other than (G) Ryan Kennedy and (G) Thomas Cui. Rangy (F) Granville Gittens has been a solid contributor when available but rebounding continues to be ASN’s biggest weakness. And they have little to no offensive presence in the paint.
(=) BLH 0-5 Short-handed Bronx-Lebanon HC has put up some good fights this season, but it just hasn’t fallen their way. If they can beat ASN and SAL, they can hope for losses from BKA and ASN to give them a chance at the playoffs. As it is, (G) Courteney Tabron has been a big time scorer all season, (C) Matt Killen solid also, the depth just hasn’t been there.
