(3) SPACE BADGERS vs (4) SK WAR DOG
Championship – Sunday (9/18) 1:00pm at MLK HS

The Space Badgers have had past teams, meticulously organized and built, that didn’t get this far. And this almost haphazardly constructed team thrown together at the last second is one game away from their first title. What a game, huh? They have the biggest, most physical front line in D1, and that was a huge asset in their semifinal win. It should be here as well with a smaller SKW. | SPB 6-2 |
64-65 |
SKW 5-3 |
But we’re giving the edge to the SK War Dog, lest you forget they were the defending champs. Though we didn’t release a semifinal preview, the general thought was that if any team could find a way to circle the wagons, it was SKW. And they did it in near legendary form yesterday with perhaps (G) “Vegas” Dave Wong‘s greatest game, scoring 37 pts at 40 years of age. |
Key Player: Sherwin Salar
Salar has emerged as the team’s orchestrator, and he’s led them to the title game. Able to basically play point forward, he sets the table and pinpoints mismatches similar to NGC (F) Chris Youn. If you need to cut off the head of the snake, he’s it, but good luck trying do it. X-Factor: Sam Deadwyler Deadwyler’s impact isn’t really reflected in the numbers. What he does is, like teammate Alex Tsay disrupt whole offenses with an all-out effort. They key is getting him to the game. |

Key Player: Pat Youreneff
For War Dog, it still starts with their PG Youreneff. Yesterday, he was composed throughout in what was at times a heated game, and led his team to a comfortable upset win. If not for Wong’s explosion, his #s were easily MVP-worthy. X-Factor: “Vegas” Dave Wong When “Vegas” has it going, he takes SKW to another level because he is relentless on the attack, has great stamina, and SKW finds him. If he does even half of what he did in the semis, it will be one of the greatest playoff runs we’ve ever seen. |
