Fall ’18 Week 5 Power Rankings (D1 WN)

1ST DIVISION WEEKNIGHTS

1) SHUT ‘EM DOWN (4-0)

SCOUTING REPORT: Multi-time scoring champ (G) Courteney Tabron is back with an electric play-making guard in newcomer (G) Terrance Bostick. The last time SED played, they ran the table. This is largely the same roster, slightly improved. They may be the favorites again.

2) PREMATURE SHOOTERS (3-1)

SCOUTING REPORT: Point (G) Shane Gillelle is back with a vengeance after a quite summer season. At his best, he’s a perennial MVP candidate. Add (G) Emery Clark has also been solid so far giving PRE the highest-scoring back court through mid-season.

3) THE OLD GUYS (3-2)

SCOUTING REPORT: Veteran (F) Jason Durecout continues to be a prolific scorer at the D1 level, and (F) Erik Pettie gives OLD a second 20 ppg scorer. With (F/C) Desmin James holding down the paint, this is a balanced team that can play for the chip in their first season.

4) STICKY’S FINGER JOINT (1-1)

SCOUTING REPORT: They haven’t played much yet, winning their first game and taking a forfeit in the second, but this is a talented roster. They don’t have a player over 6-1 listed yet, but these are some very athletic guards. (G/F) Aliou Cisse could very well average 30 ppg this season.

5) HONEY BADGERS (1-2)

SCOUTING REPORT: It’s always a tendency to start counting the Badgers in the regular season. Their spotty attendance leads to unexpected losses, but as they showed last season, if they make the playoffs, they can win it all every season. It is, however, a tougher field this season to win a spot.

6) PWC VINO (1-2): (G) Dain Scheibel is back and with (G) Gavin Singh, that’s a potent back court.
7) YOLO (1-3): Solid defense here, but their offense is last in the division.
8) TRIPLE D (0-3): Rookie (G) Tobi  Taniguchi is a great, efficient add. Not out of yet by any means.
