Fall ’18 Week 5 Power Rankings (D2 WN)

2ND DIVISION WEEKNIGHTS

1) SWISH KEBABS (4-0)

SCOUTING REPORT: There are a lot of players on this roster right now, and we may not really know where they stand until they narrow it down, but 4-0 is 4-0, and they still have arguably the best two-way player in the division in (G/F) Brian Law.  In one game (G/F) Stefan Cheplick looked great, but he can be streaky. If he stays hot, Swish might be the team to beat.

2) UNITED NATIONS (3-0)

SCOUTING REPORT: Getting (F) Joseph Bassey back has been a huge upgrade to the UNN front line, which was solid if undersized already. And newcomer (G) Brian Sanders have given United the consistent scoring (so far) that they’ve missed in their past two seasons. If he stays this efficient, United can make a run.

3) NYC GRITTY COMMITTEE (3-1)

SCOUTING REPORT: Gritty also has too many players on its roster, not all of which will be able to stay on. But no matter who is left, this is a dynastic franchise filled with veteran players that have been there a hundred times. Gritty will contend yet again this season even if takes some times for what may or may not be new additions to mesh.

4) BIG BOOKIE BRAND (3-1)

SCOUTING REPORT: Bookie has the division’s–and maybe the league’s–best shooter in (G) Sammy Merkin, and (G) Michael Albalah is no slouch either. They won the Sunday D2 chip two seasons ago with Merkin out of the lineup. They should be viewed as contenders again this season, though they’re missing pieces on the front-line and (F/C) Ben Strulowitz is returning from injury.

5) UNCLE BOUGHT A COW (2-2)

SCOUTING REPORT: We tentatively put the Cowboys here over HB Tribe, only because their record is one game better, but Tribe may overtake them soon Uncle have not performed well against top tier teams, and scoring has not been their strong suit. The loss of the Weiss brothers has certainly been evident this season

6) HB TRIBE (1-3): Don’t sleep on last season’s finalists yet. Too many veterans to count them out.
7) FREE AGENTS (1-2): Not a deep roster, but solid pieces. (G) Sid Menon maybe the cure-all.
8) SPACE JAM (1-2): Veteran team that’s been in the mix for awhile, but wins hard to come by.
9) SUPREME TEAM (0-3): No (G) Jeff Syham & (C) Max Choi, SUP doesn’t have the firepower they need.
10) THE UNIT (0-4): (G) Joey Chin gives UNT quickness at the guard, but their offense is last in D2.
