(1) SEX PANTHERS vs (2) TAP NY
Championship – Sunday (9/18) 12:00pm at MLK HS

They have been the favorites to win it all for three straight seasons, and in their first title defense, the Sex Panthers finally look like a team that has settled in with who they are. Even when they get down early in games, like they did in the semis vs RAP, they stay composed, and fight. Even when their usual scorers aren’t hitting shots, they persevere and find a way to win. SXP has now became a true champion. | SPB 7-1 |
60-55 |
TAP 6-2 |
Last time TAP NY made it to a title game, they lost a heart-breaker, then they fell of for a while. But they’re back again in what may be their best season as a franchise. It’s no secret, (F) Jin Bae Kim has been a huge addi to this team, really the perfect fit, he’s given TAP everything they were missing. TAP doesn’t have the depth that SXP does, but their Top 5 is every bit as good and they have a real chance for their first title. |
Key Player: David Chu
Chu can get trigger-happy from the 3-pt line, but in yesterday’s semis he kept his composure and pulled through a cold stretch to make key shots down the stretch in the win. There’s no question Chu can shoot, the key is how he reacts to misses. X-Factor: Greg Loeffert Loeffert didn’t shoot well in their semifinal win, but he brings much more to the table as his 9 reb, 5 ast and 3 stl can attest. Even when he isn’t shooting well, Loeffert is never short on effort, and he makes a lot of little plays that get wins. |

Key Player: Will Chu
Chu hasn’t had the best season, but he is still the player who initiates the offense. His manic energy on offense is what make TAP feel like they are constantly on the attack. If he gets it going from 3, TAP can become really tough to stop. X-Factor: Jin Bae Kim Kim will be the fastest player in this game, and if you don’t defend him well, he will get to the line and make a ton of FTs. SXP is a bit quicker than FOB, but how much Kim scores has a lot to do with how patient he is. He’ll do everything else regardless. |
